Trouble Actually Comes in Sets of 4

You know what it's like when you finally have a long weekend AND THEN YOU GET SICK ON FRIDAY! Except it's not me that's sick... it's my phone and my life. D:

First, yesterday my phone stopped charging.  After a long day of going to different phone stores and trying different chargers, I thought I had it fixed, only to realize that even though the phone was showing that it was plugged in and 'charging' the battery level not only didn't increase, it actually continue to decrease.

Secondly, I tried to find my old phone to use while I'm trying to figure out how to get the phone (Xperia X10) fixed.  Would you believe it?  Stupid warranty only covers like 1 year and like clockwork, the phone dies after 1 year and a week or two.  I found my old phone (my mom had borrowed it), almost fully charged (good) but then my mom couldn't find the charger she used when she borrowed it!  So now I have two phones running out of batteries and nothing with which to charge them.

Thirdly, another stroke of luck is that my sister uses the same phone charger as my old phone.  I tried to charge my phone with it BUT THEN IT DIDN'T WORK TOO.  Somehow my sister rigged it and ended up getting the phone to charge (thank you God for sisters).  But now I have to go to the Rogers store to get my phone fixed and it isn't covered under warranty :( .  I just got this weekend off... and now I have to spend the weekend getting my phone fixed.  I also don't really have the money to get it fixed D: .  I suppose luckily I'm starting my new job on Monday, hopefully the money comes through really really soon.

Lastly, Yak just charged me $150 because I "didn't return the modem" after I stopped using their service when I moved out of Waterloo.  I actually mailed it in exactly like they told me to and I used registered mail.  I checked CanadaPost about 2-3 days after I mailed it and it said "Successfully received".  I thought everything was A-OK until I saw the bill.  Now they need to know some piece of information to fix this but the information is on my laptop that my mom borrowed.  She walked out the door just as I realized I needed that information.

With that said, I don't wanna say "FML" because in actuality, I do have a phone and internet to use and another laptop with which to vent my frustrations and I'm very very blessed.  I know everything I wrote here is just a "First World Problem" but it still very upsetting.

Well, time to make the most of my weekend.  Maybe I'll go watch Johnny English :)

Employed, yehhh

Got the job offer from Labatt!  Can't wait to start in 2 weeks.  I think I will continue working part-time as well because I have way too much student loans to pay off.  Poop.

I'm super excited even though it's only an 8 mos. internship.  If I do well and there is a job opening, they'll hire me back!  And even if they don't, I'm excited because Maple Leaf Foods has just asked me to come in for an interview next week for their finance graduate program! (starting next September, just in time after my Labatt internship ends)

Praise the Lord.  I know that without Him, none of this is possible :)

Bratty Kids

I get lots of bratty kids who come through the discount shoe chain I currently work at.  I'll post about them whenever I see them

It's just really disheartening to see how materialistic they are!!  I asked my mom if I was ever like that she said that because she raised me right, I never ever threw a tantrum or demanded something unreasonable.  I got tons of hand me downs, always had the right shoes, and never went without.

So it scares me when these kids are begging for Uggs or screaming at their parents that they hate their new Nike shoes they picked out last week and want a new pair.

The worst part is sometimes I can see exactly where their behaviour comes from: the parent.  One parent sauntered in and was looking at our selection of shoes for young girls.  When I informed her of the current sale for boots for young girls, she said "I already got her the best boots money can buy.  (And if she had stopped here it would've been fine since I'm not going to pressure someone to buy something they already have)  She only wears the very best you know.  These boots here are not good enough."

Then you have the other end of the extreme where the parent is just tripping over themselves to please the child.  I had one mother spend 45minutes in the store trying to find suitable shoes for her 10-11 yr. old child to go to school.  She kept telling me how "Oh she wouldn't like that, she would fuss about it, I think she'll object to it etc."  And then she told me how it takes forever for the kid in the morning to get up and get dressed.  Putting shoes on was the hardest part and she would throw fits if the shoes weren't exactly to her liking.  If I was ever like that, I know my mom would've just made me go to school without shoes.  :P

Anyways.  The worst is when the kid throws a tantrum and screams extremely loudly or acts out violently and messes up the shoe racks.  Of course the parent then looks at me and expects me to pick up after their own child.  What happened to taking responsibility for your actions and the actions of those whom you are in charge of?!

Well, at least seeing all these materialistic kids and demanding adults makes me realize that I have a lot to be thankful for.

  • For parents that raised me right
  • For shoes that fit me and fit most occasions I could possibly have.
  • For a roof over my head
  • For a job
Share with me your own personal anecdotes of bratty kids or things you're thankful for! :)

Wrong Number

I just got a call from a number which I did not recognize.

"Hello"

[strong Indian accent]  "Hi, what time do you want for haircut?"

"Sorry?"

"What?"

"You called me.  For haircut!"

"No... that's not me"

"Oh... oh, oh... sorry!"

"It's okay, wrong number, bye now."

Another time:

"Hello?"

[feminine voice] "Wrong number!"

I wonder who they were expecting that when they heard a young-ish female voice they immediately knew they had the wrong number haha.

I am deciding if I should wait and  post everything at the end of the day or if I should just post whenever, even if it ends up being like 3 times in a day (although I probably won't post every day)

First Post, yay!

So I am currently in the throes of womanhood's worst gift.  Since I can't sleep due to cramps and other goodies, I decided to make my first post!

So what happened today was that I procrastinated... everything.  Literally.  The only reason I actually brushed my teeth was because I had work to go to (Payless) in the afternoon.  At least work was somewhat fun.  Love my co-workers.  We have lots of silly random jokes :)

I also found a McDonalds cup laying around the store with the Monopoly pieces untouched.  I pulled those off for myself and won a small soft drink... yay! I have two yellows so I'm going to try for the last one... chance at $100,000 baby!!

I also almost killed a customer when I accidentally dropped a box of shoes when pulling stuff from the top of the shelf.  O_O oops?

To keep this short, I shall end off here.  Nothing interesting happened anyways.  I think it'll be a good idea to keep a short log of my daily life :) Thus, "Daily Dose of Tiff".

Oh one more story, it's really funny to see a 14year old chubby kid cry in a cracked pubescent voice "That's RIGHT BITCHES" on the bus.
